Brotherly Love
An Evening of Jazz benefiting SafePlace and Lisa's Hope Chest
Saturday, February 5th, 2005
6pm-10pm
Austin, TX

Brotherly Love is about African-American men taking a stand for Women and Children. There are many communities willing to take a stand for women and children, but not all have access or the opportunity to do so in the larger, more 'traditional' arenas. Brotherly Love provides both access and opportunity for African-American men to contribute in ways that are uniquely and culturally relevant to and for them.

An Evening of Jazz showcases the unique contribution that musicians can make-the gift of music. Music is healing, inspirational, and unifying. Music brings people together, and it's FUN.

The musicians taking a stand for women and children include:
  • Ron Brown
  • Michael Stevens
  • Thomas Hughes
  • Dr. James Polk
  • and more to come!
Why support SafePlace? SafePlace exists to end rape, sexual abuse and domestic violence. www.austin-safeplace.org Why support Lisa's Hope Chest? Lisa's Hope Chest provides gently used clothing to men and women transitioning to work. www.lisashopechest.org

The Goals:
  • To raise funds for these two organizations- for SafePlace and for Lisa's Hope Chest.
  • To promote African-American males as visible leaders taking a stand for women and children.
  • To increase awareness about sexual and domestic violence.

How can you help? Attend this event. Become a Sponsor. Make a generous donation. Bring your family and friends. Donate clothing. Spread the Word!
